September 2016
On a rainy Sunday afternoon, we received an email from U.S. congratulating us on one of our works being nominated as one of the nine finalists for International Storytelling Contest this year. This news brought a smile on our faces as well as gave us a hope that this piece of work was being viewed by more audiences. Especially more women who need an extra courage to make an action in a very difficult situation of her life...
This project was rather difficult due to the fact that almost 95% of our initial concept was rejected, and also advised that we could not see inside of the shelter, not allowed to visit the site nor meet people from the shelter, due to the number of security reasons of course. However, at the last minutes of production phase, this brave lady came and kindly agreed to be interviewed in a condition of, using a list of limited questions to avoid asking her past, no camera – only audio recording was allowed, and one person could only attend from our team.
So this project had a lot of restrictions with very limited resources and time-frame. But her tears dropping onto a notepad on table during our interview inspired us to go ahead with this animation concept as well as the water drop effect in the video, which was to show audience that her tears wasted in the past brought her very strong and guided her to this much better life she currently lived in.
In Australia, two women are killed by domestic violence every week. It is really happening at this right moment you are reading this post. So we thank you for watching this video and supporting this wonderful organisation – Manly Women's Shelter
Lastly, if you like our piece of work please vote for us by clicking “ Like “ button on the contest page:
